Students will receive a Result of Assessment for units successfully completed.
This course provides the opportunity to acquire the skills and knowledge required to be a Volunteer Tutor to help these clients:
- Migrants learning the English Language
- In literacy and/or numeracy
- Within community contexts
- Trainees & apprentices in literacy, numeracy or vocational skills
- With special needs
This course aims to develop English and Mathematical skills to bring students to a recognised level from which they can enter post-Year 10 courses, gain employment or achieve other personal goals. The Defence forces recognise the English and Mathematics modules from this course as an alternative to Year 10 entry. Science is also offered at Ithaca Campus and is recognised by the Defence Force.
Students will receive a Result of Assessment for units successfully completed.
This course is delivered under 91420NSW Certificate IV in Spoken and Written English (Employment) and is suitable for overseas trained engineers. The course focuses on developing workplace English, communication skills, job search and interview techniques and provides knowledge of the practices within a technical and professional work environment in Australia.
The course will involve:

- Job seeking skills
- Communication - professional and conversational English
- Writing skills
- Australian Standards
- OHS and White Card (Site safety)
- Computer skills
- and 6 weeks practical work placement (unpaid) with a Government department or an engineering firm, depending on availability and engineering field required.
Certificate IV in TESOL is a course specifically designed to give suitably qualified candidates practical skills to teach English in Australia or internationally. Students will learn the latest teaching strategies and methodology in practical classes for developing the English language proficiency of a wide range of students. Upon successful completion of the course graduates will have the necessary teaching and linguistic skills to teach English competently and confidently in various situations. This is an academic course enabling participants to acquire the necessary knowledge and practical skills for teaching English in the classroom to non-native speakers of English.
