This course deals with the relationship between what we eat and how it affects our health. Nutrition Pure & Simple aims to show how food is part of our nutritional environment; how this environment has been disarranged and how this disarrangement has impinged on our health. It explains the role of chemical additives in our foods and their impact on our health and well being and the study of the criteria used in assessing a nutritionally balanced and culinary menu.

Students in this course will study a range of topics that include:

• the components of food
• the digestion of food
• vitamins for health and wellbeing
• metals and minerals in food
• food and the social environment
• dealing with diabetes
• cardiovascular disease
• cancer
• nutrition and alcohol consumption
• food allergy and intolerance.

This workshop is ideal for the beginner wine enthusiast and will help participants learn to identify common wine styles (white & red); tasting; characteristics of wine; serving of wine; possible food matches and growing conditions. There will be tasting of 12 wines along with a sample cheese platter to compliment the wine.
