This introductory word processing course is designed to enable the student to demonstrate competence in the use of the basic features of a word processing package, in the windows environment, creating standard business documents.
This course is suitable for anyone who has an interest in gaining an understanding of Microsoft Word 2007 and becoming competent in word processing for the workplace.
Students in this course will study a range of topics that include:
• use the basic functions of Microsoft word
• use some advanced functions of Microsoft word
• describe the advantages of word processing
• load and exit a work processing package
• select and use appropriate editing techniques
• select and use appropriate file management functions
• produce useable documents including a variety of formats and display techniques
• manipulate text to edit and/or improve the final document
• determine an appropriate method of printing.

This course is about using a computer running Microsoft Windows XP operating systems. It provides training in the most commonly used features of Windows XP, and directs you to other sources of information such as user manuals and on-line help.
This will help you solve any problems you have with the operating system.
Students in this course will study a range of topics that include:
• interpret the terminology, at an introductory or basic level, for using a computer
• use the Windows XP Graphical User Interface (GUI) facilities and accessories to manage files, directories and applications on a stand-alone computer
• define and explain hardware & software, RAM, floppy disks, removable storage, hard disks and monitor
• use the Windows XP interface to open and close applications, have several applications open together and switch between currently open applications
• perform file management activities using Windows XP Explorer
• use Windows XP Print Manager to manage printer set-up and the print queue
• Create, save and print files in Windows XP applications such as WordPad and Paint.

This course is suitable for anyone who has an interest in gaining and understanding of Microsoft Office Pro 2000 for personal use in the workplace. You will need access to a computer running the following Microsoft applications.

• Word 2000 – A word processing program that enables you to create and format documents easily, using AutoCorrect, AutoFormat and Auto Text.
• Excel 2000 – A spreadsheet program which enables you to make calculations, insert formulas and percentages, and create charts.
• PowerPoint 2000 – A presentation graphics program which enables you to create a presentation with ease.

This course is suitable for anyone who has an interest in gaining an understanding of Microsoft Excel 2003 and becoming competent in spreadsheets for the workplace.
Students in this course will study a range of topics that include:
• produce an operational spreadsheet to given specifications
• use features of Microsoft excel to create a spreadsheet with headings, relative and absolute values, simple formulas and simple functions
• retrieve an existing worksheet/spreadsheet
• edit an existing spreadsheet to meet specific requirements

Introduction to MYOB: Using MYOB Accounting v18 and MYOB Premier v12 - introduces the world of MYOB and GST to the beginner.
Students in this course will study a range of topics that include:
• access information from on-line help to solve operational problems
• open a MYOB data file and enter the following from source documents - receipts, payments, recurring transactions, purchase orders, invoices, adjustments, general journal entries and electronic payments accounting for the GST component
• print purchase orders, invoices, adjustments notes, and customer statements
• extract and record information from bank statements and produce a bank reconciliation statement
• print the following reports - transaction journals, trial balance, profit and loss statement, balance sheet, aged debtor and aged creditor reports and inventory list, GST report and business activity statement

- create a website and plan how to use it for the greatest effect
- use the features of Microsoft FrontPage 2003 to create a website with:
- multiple pages and structure
- images and links to other resources
- text formatting and screen layouts
- generate site maps
- determine how to get traffic to your website

This course focuses on giving the beginner student, the skills and confidence to start your computer, use a keyboard, enter data and process the data into a document. By completing the course, you will learn to use the correct fingers on the keyboard and increase your typing speed. You will also learn how to create text and save it so it can be recalled to the screen, edited and reformatted as many times as required without retyping.
